She had been a regular for the GB&I team from 2002, but after the 2003 World Championships, she hit a problem, which physiotherapists were unable to treat and she missed out on being picked for the 4 x 400m Olympic relay squad. It was a devastating time for her and it was a chance meeting with Rob Harris 8 weeks later which got her back on the starting blocks.
It took Rob an hour to diagnose and treat the problem and she’s been a regular at the Harris & Ross surgeries ever since.
In 2005 Meadows decided to concentrate on the 800m, breaking the 2 minute barrier both indoors and outdoors. In 2008 she won the European Cup and, 4 years later than planned, was picked to represent GB&I at the Beijing Olympics.
