The Team

Every member of the Harris & Ross team is a specialist in their field, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

rob_web Jeff

Rob Harris

Before setting up Harris & Ross with Jeff, Rob was Head
Physiotherapist for Manchester City Football Club’s first team.
He was also Head Physiotherapist at Wigan Warriors and
for GB Rugby.

Like Jeff, he was Head Physiotherapist for New Zealand’s
international Rugby League and Football squads.

In addition, Rob lectures on physiotherapy and works
alongside professional clubs and sports people to give
expert second opinions on injuries and treatment.

Jeff Ross

Jeff’s background is in rugby and football. He was Head
Physiotherapist for the Sale Sharks Rugby Union first
team, where he continues in the role of Consultant

At Manchester City Football Club, he was Head Academy

He’s also been Head Physiotherapist for New Zealand’s
international Rugby League team, the “All Whites”
Football squad and the country’s Olympic football team.

Jeff teaches other physiotherapists about the latest
treatment techniques and regularly provides second
opinions for clubs and athletes on injuries and


Doug Jones

Clinical Director

Doug is the lead physiotherapist at Spire Manchester Hospital. Doug’s career has seen him progress from a junior physiotherapist at Sale Sharks in 2006 to Head physiotherapist for two seasons before leaving in 2010. Doug was fortunate enough to join London Wasps for three seasons as head of medicine and worked as a consultant physiotherapist at Pure Sports Medicine whilst working for the England Saxons during their six nations period and summer tours.

Whilst currently the lead at Spire's physiotherapy department he has also been invited to consult to both Red Bull extreme racing and the Senior England Rugby team and was part of the medical team for last seasons successful six nations championship.

He has a special interest in managing sports injuries and is responsible for developing this service at Spire Manchester in conjunction with a number of specialists in sports medicine and rehabilitation.

Laura Miller

Physiotherapist/Hand Therapist

Since qualifying as a Physiotherapist in 2006, Laura has spent her post-graduate career working at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust in London. Having completed general rotations, she progressed into the musculoskeletal field, specialising in hand therapy.

Laura joined our team in November 2013 and is now developing our hand therapy specialist service at Spire Manchester, working closely with specialist hand and upper limb surgeons to provide integrated care. She is experienced in treating traumatic hand and wrist injuries, post-operative rehabilitation following elective procedures and triage assessment and management of GP or Consultant referred hand and wrist problems. Laura is currently working towards her British Association of Hand Therapy (BAHT) accreditation and is also becoming an active member of BAHT.


Sophie Leggate


Qualifying as a Physiotherapist from the University of the West of England, Sophie went on to join Sale Sharks in 2011. Since then, she has worked to build up the medical aspect of what is a growing Academy at Sale whilst working closely with the first team.

In addition to this Sophie has experience in private physio. Working closely with various trainers in the Cheshire region, she has developed her skills in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries. Sophie sees long term athletic development as key and therefore, works closely with her patients to provide a treatment plan focussed on injury prevention.

Sophie is based at our Spire and Wilmslow clinics; offering early morning, evening and Saturday appointments.

Suzy Ross


Suzy comes from a background in
private practice and she’s also been
Head Physiotherapist at Stockport
Rugby Union Club. She worked
alongside Rob Harris at Manchester
City, where she supported the
young players at the City Academy.
She also assists Jeff Ross at Sale

Emma Lovell


Emma’s physiotherapy background is
varied, having done private practice
as well working with the Ministry of
Defence to treat and rehabilitate
members of the armed services.

She’s also Jenny Meadows’ personal
physiotherapist, travelling around the
world with her to each Diamond
League event.

Alison Bugg


Alison is a chartered physiotherapist
and has worked alongside Jeff Ross
at Manchester City Football Club and
was Head Physiotherapist for
Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club.


Alan Raw


Alan was the Wigan Warriors assistant
physiotherapist during last season's
incredible Cup run.

He's more than 20 years experience
of treating elite international athletes
from all forms of sport, including Manchester City Football Club, where he was physio
and looking after Scott Quigg, the former
British Kick Boxing Champion and now
interim WBA World Super Bantamweight

Prior to this he spent 8 seasons at Bury
when the club won back-to-back promotions.

Hannah Lloyd


Hannah Lloyd is based at our Wigan clinic. Hannah is the Senior Academy physiotherapist at Wigan Warriors providing cover to all age groups and assisting with the needs of the first team. She has spent 2 years working for English Schools Basketball and gained experience with working with the Australian Rugby League Squad, super league referees, Scottish exiles Academy and working for the athletes competing in the British Squash Grand Prix. A former dancer, Hannah has a keen interest in the dance injury and rehabilitation.

Peter Talbot


Pete graduated in 2005 with a BSc in Sports Science and worked as Sports Scientist for Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool football clubs, whilst completing his BSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Salford.

After graduating, he worked and travelled with New Saints Football Club in the Welsh Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Europa Cup competitions. After this in 2010, he joined Widnes Vikings as their 1st Team Physiotherapist, whilst also being involved with the England Rugby League’s Elite Training Squad.

Pete joined Harris & Ross in January 2014 and is also completing the second year of his MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Bath University.

Becky Ellis

Soft Tissue Specialist/Massage Therapist

In her role at UK Athletics, Becky has worked with some of the country’s leading athletes, including preparing double Olympic Gold medallist, Mo Farah for London 2012.

Prior to that she spent time at professional football clubs as well as specialising in snow sports, with a season at a sports injury clinic in Austria.

Becky is a full time therapist at the Harris & Ross Wilmslow clinic, available for appointments at weekends and evenings.

Hannah Griffiths

Soft Tissue Specialist & Physiotherapist

Hannah is one of our newest recruits.With an MSc in Exercise Physiology and specialism’s in a number of soft tissue therapies, she works with UK Athletics, travelling to altitude camps in Kenya and Font Romeu and providing support for GB endurance runners including Mo Farah and Paula Radcliffe..

She has worked for the English Institute of Sport, providing soft tissue provision for Great Britain’s Swimming, mountain bike, and track cycling teams as they prepared for London 2012. Hannah also has experience in football, following a season spent with Nottingham Forest FC.

Debbie Bernstein

Women’s Health Physiotherapist

Since qualifying as a Physiotherapist in 1999, Debbie has spent her post-graduate career working at Pennine Acute NHS Trust and Bolton NHS Trust. In 2003 Debbie specialised in Women’s Health and has since gained a wealth of expertise in this area.

Debbie joined our team in January 2014 and is now developing our Women’s Health Specialist Service. She will initially be based in 3 of our clinics across Manchester, Hale and Bury. She will be working closely with Consultant Urologists and Gynaecologists to provide a seamless integrated service.

Julia Herbert

Women’s Health Consultant

Julia Herbert has specialised in bladder, bowel and pelvic floor dysfunction for over 25 years. Working mainly in the NHS up until 2 years ago, Julia now works as a Consultant to a number of healthcare businesses, delivers specialist training to healthcare professionals and also lectures both in the UK and internationally. Julia is also the Clinical Director at Femeda Ltd, a company specialising in the development of products for Women’s Health.

Anna Jones


Anna graduated in 2006 from St George's Hospital Medical School. Since then, Anna has worked in private practice in South West London and for East Lancashire NHS Trust predominantly in musculoskeletal outpatients and trauma orthopaedics.

Anna is now helping to develop our hydrotherapy service for our orthopaedic Spire Manchester patients as well as those across all of Greater Manchester with hydro pools currently in Wilmslow, the City Centre and Altrincham.

Olga Frankowski

Podiatric Biomechanist

Olga qualified as a podiatrist in 2005 and is our specialist in podiatric biomechanics based at our Wilmslow Clinic. She has gained a depth of experience working within musculoskeletal and sports medicine, both within the private sector and academia, where she has worked as a lecturer in biomechanics, sports medicine and podopaediatrics, for some of the country’s leading podiatry schools.

Olga has worked with elite and professional athletes using cutting edge technology to deliver the highest standards of assessment and treatments, and regularly provides second opinions and expert advice to podiatrists practicing in the field of podiatric biomechanics.

Kerry Hogan


Kerry is our podiatrist who offers comprehensive foot care to all our patients and athletes. Treatments range from nail and skin management, to diabetic foot care, advanced verruca treatments and in-growing toenail management including nail surgery. She uses the most innovative techniques  and adopts the highest standards of care and clinical practice. Her areas of specialist interest include callus patterns and minor surgery.

Andrew Pinkerton

Massage Therapist

Andrew has more than 20 years of
experience working with elite
athletes and he’s a specialist in
musculoskeletal soft tissue release.
Over the last 2 decades, he’s been
the massage therapist for the England
and Great Britain Rugby League
squads, Wigan Warrors, Sale Sharks
and Manchester United.

Rob Artingstall

Head Physiotherapist for Salford Red Devils

Rob graduated from Salford University and at the same time as he attained his Level 4 Qualification in Sports Massage. He was fortunate enough to start his professional career at Sale Sharks as their Academy Physiotherapist where he had the opportunity of working at the World Squash Championships and being the Team Bermuda Physio at the Lacrosse world Cup. Rob progressed to working with the 1st team squad at Sale where he developed a relationship with Red Bull, working with some of their elite and extreme athletes.

In November 2013, Rob became the Head Physio at Salford Red Devils RFLC.  Rob also works at the Spire Manchester Hospital.  He has a keen interest in sports injuries and injury prevention, whilst integrating strength and conditioning in to rehabilitation programs.

Tom Pooler

Assistant 1st Team Physiotherapist

Thomas Pooler graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and began his professional career at the Spire Manchester clinic in 2012. Tom joined the Harris and Ross team in November 2013 as the Assistant 1st Team Physiotherapist at Salford Red Devils RFLC. Tom has a specific interest in injury prevention and sport-specific rehabilitation.

Sarah O'Neil

1st Team Soft Tissue Therapist

Sarah has been a qualified soft tissue therapist for over 13 years, using a variety of assessment and soft tissue techniques.  During this time she was also a personal trainer, using her skills to great effect by devising tailored rehabilitation programs for patients.

Sarah's experience spans from England lacrosse players, MMA fighters and Olympic athletes to transplant patients and those with chronic conditions, to the everyday gym user.

Sarah joined Harris and Ross in November 2013 as 1st Team Soft Tissue Therapist for Salford Red Devils RFLC. With a passion for rugby league, Sarah has found her ultimate position and is looking forward to a great first season with the Devils in 2014.

Darren Roberts

High Performance Manager

Darren was a military parachutist from 1989 to 1998, before leaving to pursue a career in strength & conditioning.  After a short time in the USA, Darren began work with premiership rugby union teams and rugby league teams.  In 2002, Darren began work with Red Bull on various high performance projects with its athletes.  Darren established and ran the Red Bull UK High Performance Programme from 2008 until 2013.

Darren joined the team in January 2014 and he is now delivering his world class high performance services for Harris & Ross to elite athletes from all over the world, using our state of the art facilities. He provides and facilitates elite performance management services; physical, medical, technical, and psychological needs; for extremely demanding and unique athletes doing extra-ordinary feats.

Hayley Shaw

Business Manager

Hayley joined the company in 2011
after extensively travelling the world
for 2 years. She spent a large part of
time in Australia, where she worked
for KPMG, Melbourne. Hayley holds a
Management degree from Manchester
Metropolitan University but started her
career a short distance away at The
University of Manchester, where she
coordinated and managed Leadership
and Development Programmes. At Harris
& Ross Hayley manages our clinics and
head office and is also Rob and Jeff's
personal assistant.

Anita Evans

Accounts Manager

Anita joined us in 2010 having
previously been involved in the point
of sale industry. Her main duties are
the day-to-day running of the company
ledgers, patients account and all other
aspects relating to finances.

Reception Manager

Joining Harris & Ross in 2007,
Margaret's duties include diary
management and she's the first point
of call when you contact the clinic.

Before joining us she was Charity
Liaison Officer at Manchester City
as well as working on reception
during match days.

Rachael Jenkins


Rachael joined the Harris and Ross team in early 2013. Previously, she graduated from Leeds University and has come from a media and leisure industry background, with over 10 years experience in customer service based roles and administration. Her main role involves assisting several departments and the Business Manager with various duties at our Head Office in Manchester.

Kimberley Withnall


Prior to joining the Harris and Ross team in October 2013, Kimberley gained vast experience in administrative procedures and personal relations in various reception and administration roles while working in the leisure industry and within the private medical sector, at Spire Hospital.

Kim is now based at our Manchester office where her main duties include all liaison and administration tasks, contributing towards the running of Head Office.
