Andy Farrell to coach Lions in AustraliaPosted on December 18th, 2012
He was a legend on the field both at Rugby League and Union and it’s no surprise to those of us who know him, but Andy Farrell’s reputation as a coach is rising rapidly.
He’s been picked ahead of Shaun Edwards as part of Warren Gatland’s British and Irish Lions coaching team. Farrell has been charged with defence for the 2013 tour to Australia.
Putting this into context, it was only a year ago that Farrell joined the England set-up on an interim basis for the 6 Nations. He went back to the Saracens only to return a few months later to international duties permanently.
Not only that, but Farrell’s never had experience of Lions rugby either as a player or a coach.
All that said, the name Andy Farrell will still create concern in Australia as they know him only too well from his rugby league days and they won’t relish coming up against an opposition motivated by one of the most talented players of his generation.
Harris & Ross have worked alongside Andy since 1999, when he was still at Wigan Warriors. We’re absolutely delighted to see his meteoric rise through the coaching ranks.
