Jenny Meadows and Hayley Jones prepare for the Commonwealth GamesPosted on July 18th, 2014
There are only days remaining until the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and two of our athletes will be heading to the Athlete’s Village very soon.
Jenny Meadows has been there and done it before. She’s already won silver at the Manchester Commonwealth Games back in 2002 and since then, the 800m has cemented her position as one of the best in the world.
However, it’s been a really tough journey and from the highs of 2011, when she became the first British athlete to win the Diamond Race and justifiably lay claim to being the best in the world, she hit the lows of a major injury.
It ultimately kept her out of London 2012, a massive disappointed and one which left her reflecting on where to go next.
Hayley Jones is another Wiganer, hoping to make her mark on the world stage. Part of Team England’s 4x100m team, this is going to be a key year in her progression.
We wish Hayley and Jenny the very best of luck in Glasgow.
