Meadows claims first UK outdoor titlePosted on August 1st, 2011
Fabulous news yesterday for our own Jenny Meadows who claimed her first ever UK outdoor 800m title in Birmingham.
The Wigan & District Harriers athlete has already brought home World and European titles, but to claim something on her home soil she said was “a relief.”
Her race tactics were perfect at the Aviva National Championships in Birmingham. While Emma Jackson put some pressure on in the home straight, Meadows had the gold in her sights, with a time of 2:02:28.
This win was more of a personal triumph, to relieve some of the pressure of not having that, until now, elusive UK outdoor title. Next step is the big one – Daegu and the World Championships.
