Murray to fight Sergio MartinezPosted on December 5th, 2012
St Helens’ boxer, Martin Murray, has announced that he’ll fight Sergio Martinez next year for the WBC middleweight title.
It comes following his 6th round stoppage of Jorge Navarro at the Manchester Arena in November, when he fought on the undercard to Ricky Hatton.
We’ve been working hard alongside Murray in preparation for all his recent fights, with Rob Harris in his corner as official physiotherapist.
It’s the 30-year-old’s second bite at the title, having controversially drawn with Felix Storm last year and promoter, Ricky Hatton believes this will be his time.
Martinez has held the WBC crown since 2010, defending it against Darren Barker and Matthew Macklin, as well as getting a unanimous points decision against Julio Cesar Chavez.
Murray will take on Martinez in Argentina on April 27th.
Meanwhile another Harris & Ross boxer, Scott Quigg, will defend his WBA interim super-bantamweight crown early next year, although Hatton hasn’t revealed his next oppontent.
