Rob Harris in Murray’s corner in Martinez boutPosted on April 25th, 2013
It’s been more than 10 years since Sergio Martinez has fought in Argentina and a sell-out crowd of 50,000 will be cheering on their hero.
In Martin Murray’s corner will be Rob Harris from Harris & Ross, who’ll be making sure the St Helens’ boxer is in the best possible shape to bring the title home. Pre-fight, Rob will tape Murray’s hands with special strapping.
Murray’s promoter, Ricky Hatton, knows a thing or two about big night occasions and in fact Hatton reckons that if Murray beats Martinez in Buenos Aires, the achievement would even eclipse his own defeat of Kostya Tszyu in 2005.
He told the Ringside Toe 2 Toe podcast that Murray knew he was the underdog, but it was time that the Martinez reign came to an end:
“It happens to the best of us to be honest. Martinez is 38-years of age and albeit a great champion, but sooner or later a young whipper snapper comes through, like I did against Kostya Tszyu and takes the title.”
It certainly will be an incredible atmosphere and we’ll be right there in the thick of it!
