Simon Andrews 1984 – 2014

Posted on May 19th, 2014

Simon Andrews came here as a patient and will always be our friend, so it is with great sadness that we report on his passing.

Simon crashed in the Vauxhall North West 200 Superstock race on Saturday. He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast with serious head injuries. It sadly proved one battle too far.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his girlfriend and his friends.

We will always remember Si as a fighter. He was a man who only a few months ago was in a coma after a 200mph crash. But he wanted to get back on that bike and back into competition again. We knew he had the focus, the determination, the ambition and the sheer guts and determination to make it happen.

At the same time though, he was funny, friendly and great to be around.

He spent a lot of time in our clinics, not only working on his own training, but he also proved an inspiration to many of the other athletes who came in to overcome their own injuries. He may not have realised it, but just his presence helped. After all, look what he had come through.

Si was a one off. He will be hugely missed by us all. We are just privaleged to have spent an albeit too short a time in his company.

Physiotherapy manager, Doug Jones added:

“Our thoughts are with Simons family tonight. He was a courageous man that had an unshakeable passion for his sport. He will be sadly missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know him.”
