From Stunts to Rehabilitation with Katy Bullock

Posted on July 22nd, 2016
July saw Harris & Ross introduced to a very interesting athlete, Katy Bullock.

Katy has always been active, involved in various kinds of sports throughout her life and competed in the British and European Trials Championships. She also proudly bears the title as a Female Ambassador for Kawasaki. Not satisfied with just one sporting focus, Katy is now carving a career in the stunt world and has devoted the past three years to qualify as a stunt performer.

Making her mark in the movies

To meet the criteria of becoming a professional stunt person, candidates are expected to have six disciplines under their belts. Katy has worked tirelessly over the past couple of years and has achieved those six specialties; in addition to the Championship Trials, she has qualified as a PADI Divemaster, and achieved a single pitch award in rock climbing. Katy has proved she is more than adept at jumping off a 10m diving board, leaping from the board in 12 different styles for the stunt test. She has also passed the required test for Trampolining AND learned the vast and multi-faceted craft of Kickboxing and wears the black/brown belt with pride.

The determination paid off and although Katy hasn’t been in the stunt world long, she has already earned herself a few credits as stuntwoman, including in the new sequel ‘Now You See me 2’ and ‘Jason Bourne’, the fifth installment in the Bourne series.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Katy was involved in a bike accident a few weeks ago, which has consequently prevented her from working or riding. Thankfully she is okay, although doesn’t remember what happened and woke up on her back with a good view of the sky. Katy suspects the bike threw her off on a high side and is now recovering from three broken vertebrae (L1 burst fracture, T11 and T7 stable fractures). Katy now has four screws and two rods, all working together as an internal fixator.

On the mend

Katy dropped us an e-mail at the end of June, asking if we could help. After a conversation with our High-Performance Manager, Darren Roberts, she was booked in for a triage with our Director, Jeff Ross and a plan was put in place to maximize her rehabilitation in Wilmslow.

Katy is striving for a speedy recovery and everyone at Harris & Ross are endeavoring to return her back to work as soon as she can. Katy is #comingbackstronger.
