Owen Clarke has joined us as a Senior Physiotherapist at our busy Wilmslow clinic.
“I grew up heavily involved in sport, particularly Gaelic Football. I knew I always wanted a career that allowed me to stay close to the game and also afforded me the chance to experience as many other sports as possible! That’s how I developed an intrigue in physiotherapy. It offered me a great career working to help members of the general public and some top athletes as well.
“In 2014 I graduated from the University of Ulster with my Physiotherapy degree. A year later I completed a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the same University. Since graduating I have continued to study and develop, gaining further qualifications as an EXOS performance specialist and an Advanced Trauma Management certification from the FA (ATMMIF Level-5) .
I worked privately in a busy Physiotherapy clinic in Belfast for 3 years after graduating, while also working part time with local sports teams. Then at the start of 2019 I moved over from my home in Ireland, to Nantwich, England to become the Lead Academy Physiotherapist for Crewe Alexandra football club. Not long after I was promoted to the role of Head Physiotherapist at the same club. I was fortunate to be part of the team that gained promotion to League 1 following a massively successful 2019/2020 season.
I joined Harris & Ross in March 2021 and am looking forward to getting stuck in with a mix of patients from all walks of life – from professional sports athletes to office workers, new mums and everything in between.
For me the worst part of lockdown was not being able to travel back home to Ireland to see family. The best thing was definitely having a bit more free time, being able to be outdoors more.”
