Suzy Ross tells us how she came to be one half of the leading North West Physiotherapy practice……
“I was a gymnast from the age of 5 to 14……and consequently had a lot of injuries and a lot of physio. This sparked an interest – I always wanted to be a Sports Physio. That or a PE teacher! I really liked the medical side of things…. I dreamed of becoming the Head Physio for the England Cricket team!
I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2001 with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy, and then worked in private practices, until becoming Head Physio at Stockport Rugby Union Club. It was at Manchester City, where I met Jeff, and worked with the young players at the City Academy and also then assisted Jeff Ross at Sale Sharks.
I joined Harris & Ross in 2005, and in terms of what I like or specialise in, I do like knees! And backs! But I treat everything and everyone and ultimately love the variety.
In my spare time I can often be found chasing our dog Alfie around at the back of the clinic! Alfie, our two girls, and Jeff keep me busy outside of work! I do make time for Athletic Pilates regularly and also enjoying running and weight training at the gym.
I love to bake with my girls – we make a mean carrot cake!
The Best thing about lockdown was spending quality time with the family. I learnt to switch off a bit, and did a fair bit of reading. I have tried to carry on the habit of reading for escapism. I also feel like I became more appreciative of nature. Even just in the garden – I really love the wildlife. Oh and Jeff made fresh bread most days through lockdown! That was brilliant.
Undoubtedly the worst thing was having to close the clinics. All the implications of having to close your own business – logistically, emotionally, financially. Tough going.”
Suzy is based at our Wilmslow Total Fitness clinic.
