Tony Hardy running the Wilmslow 10k in November 2019
Tony Hardy is December’s Patient of the Month, and here he explains how Luke from our Manchester clinic, has helped him achieve his fitness goals.
“A friend got me to run a charity 10k in 2015 at the age of 57 and notwithstanding an initial abhorrence of running ( still there from time to time!) I got the bug and have been running ever since.
While training for that first run, as I upped the mileage, I had my first (of many) calf injuries and limped off the track at Total Fitness Wilmslow in to Harris and Ross for the first time. Since that time I have used Harris & Ross regularly in relation to my troubled calves and I have had several good physios and deep tissue masseurs over the last few years.
This last year I have had more regular physio and, in pursuit of 10k PBs , this year I met Luke Burgess. Luke has helped me greatly and convinced me that strengthening my legs generally helps take strain off my calves and (touch wood and pray to God) it works! I ran my first 10k in 57:30 and PB’d this year in 45:52. I will be trying to PB next year and to up my distance and run a half marathon.
You are never free of the risk of injury and it is a battle staying fit as the years creep up on you, but Luke’s calm and constructive approach is excellent and helps provide the platform for training and hopefully he’ll make an athlete of me one day!”
Congratulations to our Patient of the Month Tony!
Well done for all your hard work with Luke, and your £100 voucher is winging its way to you!
