Children’s physiotherapy is a specialist area which Harris & Ross are proud to have much experience and expertise in. With children having to deal with an accelerated rate of growth, they are prone to particular injury areas such as, their hips, knees, feet and ankles. From our Wilmslow, Altrincham, Wigan and Manchester City Centre clinics, our practitioners run children’s musculoskeletal treatment courses with excellent outcomes.
Using the best diagnostics available, our practitioners will assess your child’s symptoms, their history and perform an assessment; studying their posture, the way they move and their day to day life. We can then provide a treatment plan, tailored to your child’s needs and lead them every step of the way, in order for them to reach their goal. The smallest of adjustments, can make a significant difference.
Harris & Ross is particularly sought after in this area, as a number of our Harris & Ross practitioners have earned their stripes working with children in various environments, treating a wide range of injuries. From working with the youth team at Manchester City Football Club, to treating children who are experiencing development issues and acute injuries, our practitioners are able to help with most cases that come through our door.
Here are a few common children’s conditions we see in clinic:
A common occurrence in young athletes, Osgood-Schlatters is where the bony lump under the knee cap becomes swollen during and after exercise, causing pain in the knee.
Affects children who are experiencing a growth spurt and often those who are usually active. The Achilles tendon adds pressure to the heel bone, by pulling it during a growth spurt; this then leads to limping or walking on their toes, in order to alleviate the pain. The effects can sometimes be visibly noticeable when a lump appears on the heel.
